Preston Baseballers Cricket Club was formed in 1933 and is one of the oldest clubs in the Northern Metropolitan Cricket Association. The club provides opportunities for players at both a competitive or social level. It also provides an enjoyable social environment for players and members through club functions and fundraising events.
The club has evolved from fielding only men’s cricket teams to also include junior teams for the past twenty years and introducing veteran’s cricket and women’s cricket in 2016.
Women have already played a large role in the club’s existence and have been regular winners of the club’s Best Clubperson award as well as some Life Membership recipients. Now women can also make their mark as Baseballers on the playing field.
The players in 2016 had a range of reasons for being a part of our inaugural season. Some had cricket experience, some had watched their partners play for umpteen seasons, some were the daughters of past and current players and some never dreamed of ever playing cricket. Only now have they realised what they have missed out on – the joy of playing cricket at Baseballers.
The club is intent on growing women’s cricket and welcomes new players to the club.
